Frequently Asked Questions
Can acetabular reamers be resharpened? Yes. Acetabular reamers have cutting flutes that can be restored. The reamer geometry must be preserved to ensure proper acetabular preparation. We follow manufacturer specifications for reamer restoration.
How are broaches and rasps serviced? Broaches and rasps have textured cutting surfaces rather than simple edges. These surfaces are restored by reconditioning the cutting teeth or grit pattern to restore effective bone removal performance.
Do you sharpen saw blades? Only saw blades specifically designed by the manufacturer for refurbishment. Powered saw blades require manufacturer-approved service. We do not treat powered-device accessories like ordinary hand instruments.
How often should Kerrison rongeurs be sharpened? Kerrisons used in high-volume spine practice should be inspected every 3–6 months. The cutting jaw, footplate and mechanism should all be checked for wear and proper function.
